VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN ANNOUNCES CHILDREN'S BRAIN TUMOR TISSUE CONSORTIUM AS AN INITIATIVE OF "CANCER MOONSHOT"
The Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation is honored to announce that the Children's Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC) (www.cbttc.org) has been named by President Obama and Vice President Biden as one of the 34 initiatives being supported by the “Cancer Moonshot." The Moonshot's goal is to make 10 years of progress in preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer in 5 years - ultimately striving to end cancer as we know it.
Housed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the CBTTC is a “collaborative, multi-institutional research program dedicated to the study and treatment of childhood brain tumors.” It actively stimulates tissue-based research, increases worldwide access to the molecular analysis of large numbers of brain tumor specimens, provides relevant, clinical data linked to those specimens, and facilitates the development of new experimental tumor models for use in pre-clinical therapy assessments. The collaboration currently consists of 10 institutions, both national and international.
Children's Brain Tumor Foundation and the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) are the founding sponsors of the CBTTC.
We look forward to continuing support of this critical program and are proud that it is one of the initiatives highlighted by the White House “Cancer Moonshot." The full White House Moonshot report can be found by clicking here.
