Family 2 Family

The Family-to-Family Network (F2F) is CBTF's oldest program. The F2F Network connects parent and survivor mentors to families who are seeking peer support. We recognize the expertise and support which can be provided by people who have shared a similar experience. The F2F Network also connects bereaved parents and family members to bereaved mentors for support. We always try to match you with the best possible connections. If you are interested in speaking with another parent or survivor, please call our toll-free support line at 866-228-4673.

Parent Mentors

We are looking for more parents to join the F2F Network as Parent Mentors. Parent Mentors are parents who are typically one year past the initial diagnosis of their child. In order to become a parent mentor, parents must complete a parent mentor application and mail the application to Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, Attn: Wade Iwata, 274 Madison Ave, Suite 1004, New York, NY 10016. You will be contacted by CBTF to arrange training. Trainings are offered several times a year and may be conducted via phone conference or a face-to-face group. The trainings prepare parents to become supportive mentors. Once trained, the CBTF social workers will match parents to other parents seeking support. Parent Mentors are able to accept or decline mentor assignments and will always be able to choose whether or not they are comfortable with the connection.

Survivor Mentors

Survivor Mentors are typically 18 years of age or older and have completed mentor training. If you are brain tumor survivor who is off treatment and interested in providing peer support for others, please complete the attached application and mail application to Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, Attn: Stacia Wagner, 274 Madison Ave., Suite 1004, New York, NY 10016. You will be contacted by CBTF to arrange training. Trainings are offered several times a year and may be conducted via phone conference or a face-to-face group. Once trained, the CBTF social workers will match survivors to other patients or family members seeking support

Mentor Guidance and Support

The CBTF social workers are available to offer parent and survivor mentors guidance and support around their connections when needed. In addition, the social workers provide training sessions upon request on relevant topics.
