As the new kid on the block as an employee of CBTF, I think that this past weekend involving the Teen/YA Holiday party at Dave & Busters and the Family Holiday Party at Beth Israel Medical Center gave me terrific insight into the CBTF community and how everyone who’s a part of it connects.  I had a lot of fun at both events getting to see some friends that I had not seen in a while, as well as meeting many new survivors and families!

What really impressed me was the camaraderie among everyone that attended, whether they had been to several events together before or had met for the first time.  Even for myself, I had met several families for the first time at Dave & Busters and the next day we greeted each other as if we were old friends, singing and dancing along with the DJ at the Family Holiday Party.

The family party was especially heart-warming to be a part of as I got to see so many families who struggle on a daily basis be able to let go of their worries; even if were just for an afternoon. The volunteers truly outdid themselves, some of them donating their artistic talents to help the kids with craft making, face painting, and even air-brushed tattoos!  We had a multitude of elves and angels greeting the kids and had an exciting visit from Santa as well.

Overall, the holiday parties that took place this past weekend were a great way for me to be introduced into the family of CBTF and gave me a lot to look forward to in the future!
