BRAIN TUMOR FAMILY CAMP IN WISCONSIN
During Labor Day Weekend, 24 families from Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Indiana traveled to Mukwonago, WI to attend CBTF's first brain tumor family camp held in the Mid-West! CBTF collaborated with Children's Oncology Services, Inc. (COSI) to offer this experience to families. Families arrived on Friday evening and left Monday morning. Parents attended a parent discussion group on Saturday and were able to share experiences, ask questions and learn about resources. On Sunday, neuro-oncologists from Chicago and Wisconsin joined the parent group and answered parents' questions related to medical issues. In addition to making connections and learning about information and resources, parents were able to have fun with their families and enjoyed a wide variety of activities. Family games and projects were available. Families were also able to use the rock climbing wall, ropes course, swimming pool and lake. Some even went fishing! We also got to visit a small farm where we saw goats, chickens and a pumkin patch. Night-time entertainment was also provided and was enjoyable for both adults and children. One night, all of us sat by a bon fire and made s'mores! Families left camp with new friends, connections, resources and information. If you attended family camp, please post your experiences here! If you did not attend, please feel free to post any questions about family camp.
